Man identified for threats to Joe Biden shot dead by FBI

A man identified by US authorities for threatening Joe Biden was shot dead by the FBI on Wednesday in Utah, hours before a scheduled visit by the US president to that state.

According to the US federal police, the suspect was killed when officers tried to arrest him in Provo, south of Salt Lake City.

The FBI said only that an investigation is underway, but the man who was shot was identified as Craig Robertson in a complaint filed by federal prosecutors in Utah.

According to the complaint, he was a 70-year-old who presented himself as a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump and who repeatedly threatened Joe Biden in social network publications.

The man will also have published several photos of firearms.

US President Joe Biden is visiting the west of the country and is expected to arrive in Salt Lake City on Thursday.

Secret services said they were “aware of the FBI’s investigation of a person in Utah who threatened a protected person” by the agency, but did not provide further details.
