Ukraine warns Russia maintains Black Sea Fleet even without missile launchers

The spokeswoman for the armed forces of the south of the Ukrainian army, Natalia Humeniuk, warned on Friday that Russia still has a fleet of about ten ships in the Black Sea, but stressed that it has no missile launchers in the area.

However, he emphasized that the Russian authorities are preparing to install a submersible missile carrier.

Humeniek also indicated that Russian forces were conducting “vigorous aerial reconnaissance exercises” nearby.

“We are seeing an increase in activity from unmanned aerial vehicles and aviation in general”he said, according to news agency Ukrinform.

“It is very likely that they are looking for targets for future attacks in this way,” he said, before stating that the safety zone for Russian ships appears to have been reduced.

Russian forces have launched more than 60 attacks on populated areas in the Kherson region in the past 24 hours, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Air raid sirens blared in the capital Kyiv on Friday morning after a series of explosions.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a children’s hospital had been hit by another attack by the Russian army early this morning, though he did not give details of any casualties or injuries at this time.
