The leader of the Wagner mercenary group, Yevgueni Prigozhin, appeared in a video on Monday for the first time since the failed attack on the Kremlin on June 24, hinting that he had returned to Africa.
“The Wagner group makes Russia even bigger on all continents and makes Africa even freer,” Prigozhin said in a recording broadcast on Telegram channels linked to the Russian militia.
In the video, Prigozhin does not explicitly state that he is in Africa, but appears in a landscape similar to the African savannah and ensures that the temperature around him is 50 degrees.
“Justice and happiness for the African peoples,” proclaims the Wagner leader in the message, guaranteeing that his paramilitary group is the “nightmare” of Islamic State, Al Qaeda “and other outlaws.”
The mercenary also claims that the group continues to recruit “authentic heroes” and “fulfill assigned tasks.”
“Toto, I feel like we’re not in Belarus anymore.”

However, he assures that “when the homeland demands it”, elements of the group, which was recently Russia’s main strike force in Ukraine, will once again create a “national unity” to defend the country’s interests.
Moreover, he added that the group continues its activities in Africa and Belarus, the country it moved to after the failed armed uprising against the Kremlin in June.
