Russia announced Wednesday evening that it has destroyed five Ukrainian drones in the Black Sea, as well as several drones in the annexed Crimean peninsula, with no reports of casualties.
“On Thursday around 5 a.m. local time (3 a.m. in Portugal), Ukrainian forces attempted to attack the Black Sea Fleet patrol ship Sergei Kotov with five drones,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in Telegram.
The five devices were destroyed by fire from the Russian ship, the ministry added, which did not provide information on possible damage or casualties.
According to Moscow, Kiev has tried to attack this ship at least twice this summer.
On the Crimean Peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, Russian air defenses destroyed eleven drones on Thursday morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
Moscow said Ukrainian missiles fired at Russian shipyards in Sevastopol, Crimea, on Wednesday, damaging two ships and wounding 24. Kiev said the operation was a “success”.
Ukrainian security services also reported the destruction of an S-400 Triomphe anti-aircraft system in Crimea on Thursday.
Russia, in turn, claimed to have destroyed several Ukrainian drones in the border areas of Briansk and Belgorod between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, with no reports of casualties.
The Russian Defense Ministry said six drones were shot down at four different locations in the Bryansk region, halfway between Kiev and Moscow.
Another drone was destroyed further south over the Belgorod region on Wednesday evening, the ministry added, noting that the attack was “prevented”.
