A red wool sweater with a black sheep, worn by Princess Diana in 1981, was auctioned this Thursday for around one million euros, a new record in the sale of garments that belonged to ‘Lady Di’.

This garment also became the most valuable at the auction, the Sotheby’s auction house, which carried out the sale, confirmed to Efe.

Princess Diana of Wales wore this shirt to Prince Charles’s polo match in June 1981, a month before the wedding.

The piece from the British brand Warm & Wonderful received a total of 44 offers, which ended up multiplying its final price by 14, estimated at 80 thousand dollars (about 75 thousand euros).

The auction was active from August 31 to September 14.

Also this Thursday, a black and white dress of the Princess of Wales, designed by Murray Arbeid, which ‘Lady Di’ wore on two occasions in 1985, sold for $380,000 (about 357,000 euros).

The first use was to celebrate Prince Edward’s 21st birthday at the Midsummer Night Ball in June and then at the Worshipfull Company of Fanmakers banquet in December.

In January, Sotheby’s auctioned the purple velvet “Infanta style” party dress, designed by Victor Edelstein, for $604,800 (about 568,000 euros).

Diana died in Paris in 1997, aged 36, when the car she was traveling in with her boyfriend, Dodi Al-Fayed, and the driver, crashed into a cement pillar in the tunnel she was passing through while being chased. by photographers in cars and motorcycles.

A British judicial investigation concluded that the accident was due to the negligent conduct of the pursuing vehicles and the driver’s high blood alcohol level.

The auction also included the dress worn by Kate Winslet during the 1998 Oscars, when she was nominated for best actress for her role in the film Titanic, and a dress worn by former first lady of the United States Michelle Obama during a charity event, among others. other clothes.

The first was auctioned for $12,700 (about 12,000 euros) and the second for $9,525 (about 8,950 euros).
