Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Canada from the United States on Thursday evening for an unannounced visit aimed at rallying support for his country in the fight against the Russian invasion.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau greeted Zelensky as the Ukrainian leader stepped off the plane from Washington in Ottawa for his first visit to the North American country since the start of the war.

President Volodymyr Zelensky arrives in Ottawa at the end of September. He spoke on September 21 on his first official visit to Canada since Russia launched a full-scale invasion in February 2022.

In Washington, Zelensky met with President Joe Biden and congressional leaders.
Canada has a large Ukrainian community and the Trudeau government has pledged strong and sustained support to Ukraine in the fight against Russian forces.
This Friday, Zelensky will formally meet with Trudeau and deliver a speech to the Canadian parliament.
Zelensky and Trudeau will also travel to Toronto to meet with business leaders and members of the Canadian community of Ukrainian descent.
