As Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei speaks, Iran’s main state television news channel is hacked shortly after 9:30 pm (local time) this Saturday. A photo of the Supreme Leader himself is then shown with an animation that puts him in the process of burning, with a target on his forehead.
In the lower part of the image, the face of Mahsa Amini, who died three days after his arrest by the vice police for not respecting the use of the veil, and that of three other victims of the protests were shown on the screen. .
“Join us and rebel”
In red it says: “the blood of our youth is on your hands” and in orange: “join us and rebel”. In the background, the slogan “Woman, life, freedom” is chanted.
An interruption of only ten seconds, before the return to the antenna, of a presenter with a tense face. These messages explicitly echo the large-scale demonstrations that have rocked the entire country since Mahsa Amini’s death.
Since then, a wave of protests has taken over the entire country, but these uprisings have been harshly repressed. The Oslo-based NGO Iran Human Rights reported in a latest report of at least 95 dead since September 16.
