MNE confirms two Portuguese among those killed in the bus accident in Italy

Two Portuguese people died and one was injured in the bus accident that occurred on Tuesday night in the Venice region, in northeastern Italy, which caused 21 deaths, a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to the Lusa agency on Wednesday.

“The death of two Portuguese citizens and one injured following a bus accident in the city of Venice has been confirmed,” said an official source in Portuguese diplomacy.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stressed that it “regrets what happened and, through the Portuguese Embassy in Rome, is following the situation.”

The mayor of Venice announced this afternoon, according to the Italian media, the nationality of all the victims of the bus accident: nine Ukrainians, four Romanians, three Germans, two Portuguese and one Italian. [o motorista]a Croatian and a South African.

The authorities of Venice today asked the Italian Government to declare three days of mourning in the region after the death of 21 people on a bus that fell from a viaduct.

In addition to 21 confirmed deaths, there are at least 15 injured.

The passengers on the bus were mostly young foreign tourists returning to Venice from a nearby campsite.

The vehicle was an electric bus that caught fire after falling from a height of about 15 meters, knocking down the protection of the viaduct.
