Ukrainian air defenses this morning shot down 24 of 29 ‘shahed’ kamikaze drones launched by Russia over the Odessa, Mikolayiv (south) and Kirovograd (center) regions, the Ukrainian Air Force said.
During the night, “the occupiers attacked Ukraine with offensive drones of the ‘shahed’ type from the south,” the air force said in a statement, explaining that the launches were carried out from Crimea, a peninsula controlled by Russia since 2014 is occupied.
According to Sergei Bratchuk, from the military administration of the Odessa region, five of the drones were intercepted over this Ukrainian region, which has been a priority target for Russia since July, when Moscow forces began bombing Ukrainian port and agricultural infrastructure.
Nine drones, Bratchuk continued, were shot down over Kirovograd, where one of the unmanned aerial vehicles that was not intercepted caused a fire.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the extent of the damage.
The Air Force reported that 24 of 29 attack drones were shot down overnight over Ukraine.

Russia denounces the Ukrainian attack with cluster munitions
This Thursday, Russia again denounced an alleged Ukrainian cluster munition bombardment, this time against the Kursk border area, as well as a drone strike that caused power outages in several districts.
“The border town of Rilsk was bombed with cluster munitions from Ukraine,” wrote Kursk Governor Roman Starovoit. on the messaging platform Telegram.
A woman was injured by shrapnel, he added.
Houses and cars were also damaged in several parts of the city, near the border with Ukraine.
Starovoit said unexploded ordnance was found.
Just two days ago, the governor of the neighboring Bryansk region, Alexandr Bogomaz, also denounced a cluster munition attack by Ukraine.
Furthermore, Starovoit reported a nighttime attack by Ukrainian drones on infrastructure in three districts of the Russian province, which resulted in power outages.
