Zelensky accuses Russia of helping Hamas attack Israel

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia on Monday of having helped the Islamic group Hamas in its attack on Israel last Saturday.

“We are convinced that Russia was present in one way or another in the operations carried out by Hamas,” Zelensky said in an interview with the French television channel France 2.

“According to our intelligence services, there are indications that make us think that Russia has already helped certain terrorist operations,” added the Ukrainian head of state, who professes the Jewish religion.

“It’s not the first time, [a Rússia] “He has already done it in Syria, Ukraine and Crimea,” Zelensky said.

“Russia seeks to destabilize the world order,” he said.

The Islamic group Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli territory this Saturday, called Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm”, with the launch of thousands of rockets and the incursion of armed militiamen by land, sea and air.

In response to the surprise attack, Israel bombed several Hamas facilities in the Gaza Strip from the air, in an operation it called “Iron Swords.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel is “at war” with Hamas.

Israeli authorities today raised the number of Israelis killed by Hamas to 900 and the number of wounded to 2,600.

In the Gaza Strip, authorities reported today that 687 people have been killed and 3,726 injured by Israeli shelling over the past three days.
