This Wednesday, the Portuguese Government advised against any travel to Lebanon as a destination. On the Portal of the Portuguese Communities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs writes that provinces close to the border with Israel should be especially avoided.
“National citizens should avoid participating in demonstrations, rallies or riots, as well as in areas where they occur,” advises the Government.
National citizens residing in Lebanon are asked to remain attentive “to any developments” and to all instructions “transmitted by the Portuguese Embassy in Cyprus” and through other official channels.
Portugal does not have an embassy in Lebanon. Diplomatic representation is provided in Nicosia, Cyprus. There is only one honorary consulate in Beirut.
