The Ukrainian Air Force announced that one of its missiles hit a Russian ship carrying Kalibr cruise missiles at a shipyard in the Crimean port city of Kerch.
The information was confirmed by the commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Mikola Oleschuk, on his Telegram account, after the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Saturday that they had attacked maritime and port infrastructure in Kerch, according to the agency. Ukrinform news.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledged “damage” to a ship and added that Russian anti-aircraft systems shot down 13 of the 15 cruise missiles launched by Ukraine against the Butoma shipyard.
“Some remains of the fallen missiles fell on the territory of one of the dry docks. There were no casualties,” Crimean Governor Sergei Aksenov said on Telegram, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
In April 2022, Moscow confirmed that the warship “Moskva”, one of the main assets of the Russian fleet, sank while being towed after suffering a fire following an attack by the Ukrainian Army.
Ukraine and Russia have been at war for more than a year, since Russian troops invaded Ukrainian territory on February 24, 2022. The Ukrainian region of Crimea was occupied and annexed by Russia in 2014.
