The annual inflation rate fell in October to 2.9% in the euro zone and 3.6% in the European Union (EU), the lowest in more than two years, Eurostat reports this Friday.
In euro area countries, annual inflation fell to 2.9% in October, compared to 4.3% in September and 10.6% in the same month of 2022, reaching the lowest value since August 2021 (3.0%).
Across the 27 Member States as a whole, the inflation rate of 3.6% compares with 4.9% the previous month and 11.5% in October 2022, in line with September 2021 (3.6 %).
According to the EU statistical office, the lowest annual inflation rates, measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), were recorded in Belgium (-1.7%), the Netherlands (-1.0% ) and Denmark (-0.4%) and the highest, in turn, in Hungary (9.6%), Czech Republic (9.5%) and Romania (8.3%).
