A cargo ship with 14 people on board sank this Sunday off the island of Lesvos, in Greece.
According to the France-Presse news agency, a search and rescue operation is underway. Among the crew were two Syrian citizens, four Indians and eight Egyptians.
The same source states that the cargo ship sank 4.5 nautical miles southwest of Lesbos and that its final destination was the port of Istanbul.
Greece is being affected by Storm Oliver. The Greek meteorological agency increased its warnings on Saturday, due to the forecast of strong winds and sea disturbances, and also warned the population of “dangerous weather phenomena.”
