Chained from hands to neck. This Monday, November 20, a 40-year-old woman showed up at the Santiago Apóstol hospital in Miranda de Ebro, Spain, with her hands handcuffed with chains and tied to her neck.
According to the Spanish newspaper El País, the woman escaped from the clutches of her attacker who had kidnapped her from her home a few hours before. As she was leaving the hospital, the man allegedly offered to drop her off by car downtown.
Once in the vehicle, her captor allegedly claimed to have to “pick up things from her house,” according to the newspaper El Periódico, thus inducing the woman to enter her house, before hitting her in the face. After regaining consciousness, the victim was tied with a chain from which the alleged aggressor continued to pull her with the intention of suffocating her.
According to the victim’s statements to the police, the young woman took advantage of the fact that her attacker left her unsupervised to escape.
Convicted of kidnapping and sexual abuse in 2015
To facilitate the arrest of her attacker, the victim managed to lead the authorities to the suspect’s house in the Las Matillas neighborhood, reports El País. The man was arrested and provisionally released this Wednesday, November 29, by the Court of First Instance of Miranda de Ebro, reports the national newspaper.
According to the local newspaper Diario de Burgos, the man had already been sentenced to six years in prison for kidnapping and sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl in 2015.
The national police’s “family and domestic violence” unit is currently in charge of the case.
