“In ten years the world will say that if Saudi Arabia is the most important country in oil and gas production, Brazil will be called the Saudi Arabia of green energy, of renewable energies,” stressed the Brazilian Head of State.
To reinforce these ambitions, Lula da Silva recalled the Brazilian State’s goal of ending illegal deforestation in the Amazon by 2030 and pledged all efforts to make “Brazil the center of the world in the production of alternative energies.”
During his speech, the Brazilian President also invited the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, to an official visit to Brazil.
The Brazilian head of state is in Riyadh, before heading to Qatar and, from there, to the United Arab Emirates, to participate in the Dubai climate summit (COP28), where he is expected to arrive with a record delegation.
Lula da Silva will be present on December 1 and 2 at COP28, which begins on Thursday.
