Ukraine said Wednesday that it suffered a new overnight attack by Russia, which allegedly used 48 Iranian-made Shahed drones.
In total, “48 Shahed 136/131 drones were launched, 41 of which were destroyed by anti-aircraft defenses,” the Ukrainian Air Force declared via the digital messaging network Telegram.
Russia launches drone strikes and fires missiles at Ukraine almost every night.
kyiv accuses the Kremlin of trying to terrorize the civilian population and destroy energy infrastructure to “plunge the population into darkness and cold, like last winter.”
kyiv has beefed up air defense systems with “Western weapons” that have so far destroyed most drones or explosive missiles sent by Russia.
Last year, millions of people lost power during a cold snap and Ukraine wants to prevent this from happening again.
