After a major flood, a man was found dead in the Heraklion region on the island of Crete in Greece, while two other people are missing, firefighters announced on Saturday.
The 50-year-old was trapped in his car as torrential rains began to fall on the southern Greek island.
According to fire officials, a woman, also trapped in her car, was slightly injured. At least nine vehicles surrounded by water still need to be rescued, firefighters say.

Local media also report extensive damage in coastal towns where streets have turned into rivers, sweeping away everything in their path.
The region’s deputy prefect, Nikos Syrigonakis, called on residents to “limit their movements.” “It’s a tough day,” he added.
