English authorities find the body of a woman who had been missing for a week in a river

The body of a 55-year-old woman who disappeared last Friday (December 8) was found in the River Wensum, England, Norfolk Police announced.

According to The Guardian newspaper, specialist divers searched for Gaynor Lord in the river and eventually found the body.

Gaynor Lord had disappeared a week ago after leaving the store where she worked.

A week ago, authorities found her clothing and cell phone on the banks of the river, immediately indicating there was “a strong possibility that Gaynor had gone into the water,” police chief Dave Buckley revealed, something confirmed Friday.

A friend of the missing woman told Sky News she missed two calls from Gaynor Lord a few minutes before she left work, and another at 4.15pm. “I answered the call and asked ‘who is this?’ and she said ‘it’s Gaynor’,” he revealed, adding that he had to hang up because he got another call. “I called back and then she didn’t answer. I called again and left a message. Later I left another message on WhatsApp,” he explained.

The missing woman’s second call was likely a mistake, as the friend says it sounded like Gaynor was walking.

According to the authorities, there was no involvement of third parties.
