The new golden rooster of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris was placed on top of that monument last Saturday, replacing the one that was struck by fire in 2019.
The new rooster, which replaces the one damaged by the fire on April 15, 2019, was designed by the chief architect of French Historical Monuments, Philippe Villeneuve.

The old rooster, which was recovered, will be exhibited in the relics museum of Notre-Dame.
This symbol is important to the French who, for example, display it on the shirts of the national football and rugby teams.
On December 8, French President Emmanuel Macron visited the cathedral and announced that its reopening will take place on December 8, 2024, five years after the fire.
Macron also said he will invite Pope Francis to attend the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral.
The fire took place on April 15, 2019, but the reconstruction of this monument only started in early 2022, after successive delays due to lead remediation, the Covid-19 pandemic and archaeological excavations.
