The “most humble Christmas tree in the world” auctioned for almost four thousand euros

One of the oldest artificial pine trees in the world was sold this Friday at auction for almost four thousand euros.

According to The Guardian, the pine tree was expected to sell for between 70 and 90 euros, as it was purchased 103 years ago by Dorothy Grant’s family for six cents. However, expectations ended up being exceeded and the tree ended up selling for approximately 3,970 euros in London.

“This is one of the oldest Christmas trees of its kind that we have ever seen. It is the humblest Christmas tree in the world and it has a new home,” said auction house owner Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons, cited by the British. newspaper.

“The tree reminds us that extravagance and excess are not necessary to capture the Christmas spirit,” he added.

The artificial pine, supported on a red-painted wooden base, is 79 centimeters high, has 25 branches, 12 pine cones and six small candelabras.
