Eavesdropping detected in the office of the head of the Ukrainian army

Ukrainian security services revealed this Sunday that they have discovered a bug in one of the offices used by the head of the army, Valery Zaluzhny. However, they explain that it is “non-operational”.

The information comes as Ukraine struggles to maintain Western support for its war against Russia after its counter-offensive in the spring failed to produce the expected results in the east and south of the country.

“We emphasize that the equipment was not found directly in Valery Zaluzhny’s office, but in one of the buildings that he could use in his work in the future,” the information services indicated.

“According to preliminary data, the device found was not operational,” she added.

“No data storage devices or means of remote audio transmission were found. This technical device will be sent for investigation.”

Ukrainian media have reported rising tensions between Zakuzhny and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in recent months.

Zaluzhny said last month that the conflict with Russia had reached a “stalemate” – an assessment rejected by both Zelensky and the Kremlin.
