Disjointed network that sexually exploited Brazilian women in Spain

Spanish police have dismantled a criminal organization that sexually exploited Brazilian women in Spain. In an operation that saw the release of six victims and the arrest of two people, police authorities announced on Thursday.

The organization operated from the north of Spain, in the regions of Galicia and Asturias The police investigation was initiated following a complaint in Brazil from an association in the state of Goiás that defends transvestites and transsexuals, according to a statement from the Spanish National Police.

The two members of the criminal organization were detained in Oviedo (Asturias), while the victims were released in the Spanish cities of Lugo, Oviedo, Zaragoza, A Coruña and Málaga and also in Brazil.

According to police, the organization deceived the victims with false promises of work in Spain and demanded that they pay thousands of euros in debt upon arrival in the country.

The explorers retained “absolute control over the victims”.They took phones and documents and locked them in houses used as prostitution sites, police revealed.

The victims were also given medicines to offer to customers.

The Spanish police operation was developed in collaboration with the Brazilian Federal Police.
