Several violent incidents, including deadly bomb attacks in Russian-controlled areas of Ukraine, marked the first day of the Russian presidential election on Friday, March 15. The Russian president sees it as an attempt to destabilize Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin promised this Friday, March 15, to respond to the recent attacks on Russian territory by fighters who call themselves pro-Ukrainian Russians, denouncing an attempt to “disrupt” the presidential elections organized until Sunday and that would supposedly allow him to be re-elected without opposition.
“These enemy attacks do not and will not go unpunished,” the Russian president said during a televised meeting of his security council. “I am sure that our people, the Russian people, will react with even more unity,” he added.
