A speech that scratches his political and ideological opponents again. This Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke extensively to members of the Valdai Club, an influential annual international forum that reflects on Russia’s place in the world. A special meeting this year, when on February 24, the Kremlin launched its “special military operation” in Ukraine.
“Most Dangerous” Decade
For long minutes at the beginning of his speech, Vladimir Putin harshly criticized “Western societies”, which he accuses of being “blinded” and of having committed “systemic failures”.
“It was not done on purpose, but they are systemic failures committed by these Western power elites. The West has done many things to make the world situation worse: provoke the war in Ukraine, destabilize around Taiwan, provoke a humanitarian crisis,” he said. he said she.
At the same time, Vladimir Putin also criticized the way the West prevents other countries in the world, particularly developing countries, from continuing their evolution, defending their “right to exist”. For him, the world is entering its “most dangerous” decade since World War II.
“Others have no right to special and independent development. The West is blinded by a feeling of superiority that endures. Westerners think that everyone else still has to wait before reaching their level, but in 50 years, nothing has changed. This racist and neocolonial blindness continues to exist and has worsened”, he insists.
Putin attacks ‘cancel culture’
Second, Vladimir Putin’s speech analyzed the direction the West is taking in social matters. As he had already done several times in previous speeches, he attacked “cancel culture” again.
“The Nazis had burned books and now there are bans on Dostoyevsky, on Tchaikovsky, on these countries in avant-garde quotes and progress, canceling culture cancels all independent free thought in the economy, culture, everywhere,” he says.
By way of conclusion, the Kremlin leader recalled that “nobody can dictate their society to our people.”
“This monopoly exists to prevent more attractive and interesting economic models from emerging than what already exists. […] The new gender trends are the homosexual parades or the nine different genders. If they want, they can do it at home, but they have no right to demand that others do the same.
