“Dirty bomb”: Putin wants an IAEA mission in Ukraine “as soon as possible”

“We even know where it is done approximately (in Ukraine),” the Russian president said in a speech in Moscow.

The Russian bluff continues. This Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin estimated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should go “as soon as possible” to Ukraine, accusing the Russian president of this neighboring country of erasing the evidence that it is preparing a “bomb dirty”.

“The IAEA wants to come … We are in favor, as quickly and as widely as possible, because we know that the Kyiv authorities are doing everything possible to cover the traces of these preparations,” he said. he stated in front of the Valdai discussion forum in Moscow. “They’re working on it,” he said again.

“We even know where it is done approximately (in Ukraine),” added the Russian leader, when asked about Russian accusations of a “dirty bomb” that Kyiv would prepare.

Nuclear ruled out?

According to the Kremlin strongman, Ukraine wants to use such a radioactive weapon “so that it can later be said that it was Russia that carried out a nuclear attack,” Vladimir Putin said, stressing that he himself had even asked his Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, to “inform” their Western counterparts.

In fact, the latter has met in recent days with the American, Chinese, French, Turkish and British defense ministers, exchanges of unprecedented intensity – for a few hours – since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine on 24 February.

Since then, Ukraine and its Western allies have widely condemned Russia’s “obviously false” accusations.

Vladimir Putin also played down his earlier comments about the possibility of using atomic weapons, believing that he had only responded to threats from his adversaries.

“We never talk about the possibility of using nuclear weapons. We only hint in response to statements from other countries,” the Russian president said.

According to him, Ukraine and the West claim that Moscow is playing nuclear escalation to “influence neutral countries to tell them: ‘Look at Russia! Don’t cooperate with her!'”
