“Expectation of victory, for the good of Brazil. We only had good news in the last few days. God willing, we will be victorious this afternoon. Or rather, Brazil will be victorious this afternoon,” he told reporters outside Vila Militar. , in the western zone of Rio de Janeiro, where he voted.

The Brazilian president arrived at the scene and voted as soon as the polls opened, around 8:00 local time (11:00 in Lisbon).

After the vote, the candidate left Vila Militar and went to the Galeão airport to receive the Flamengo soccer team, which on Saturday beat Athletico Paranaense in a match played in Ecuador and was proclaimed three-time champion of the Copa Libertadores de América.

Bolsonaro faces today former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, candidate of the Workers’ Party (PT) in an election marked by political polarization and a lot of tension.

In the first round of the elections held on October 2, Lula da Silva won with 48.4% of the votes compared to 43% of the votes obtained by Bolsonaro.
