The Danes began voting on Tuesday in early parliamentary elections marked by political fragmentation and the proximity of voting intentions between the center-left, in power, and the right-wing opposition.

Polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. (7:00 a.m. in Lisbon) and are expected to close at 8:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m.), with the first results expected around an hour and a half later. .

All the polls place the bloc led by the party of the still prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, the Social Democratic Party, as the winner, but without the necessary support to guarantee a parliamentary majority, and having on the opposite side a bloc with half a dozen and led by the Liberal Party.

More than four million voters in this country of the European Union (EU) can choose between 14 parties and the latest poll by the DR public television gave 83 seats to the center-left and 77 to the right-wing and far-right opposition, so the 15 moderate seats will be decisive.

The moderates are the political project of former Liberal Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen (2009-2011, 2015-2019). Founded a year ago, the movement has gained supporters in recent weeks.

Immigration has been a central issue in legislation for the last two decades, but this time it has given prominence to security, due to the war in Ukraine, and the energy crisis.
