Australia: She remains trapped in a crevasse for seven hours after trying to recover her phone

While trying to retrieve her phone that had fallen among the rocks in Hunter Valley, Australia, a woman was trapped face down for seven hours.

Only his feet were still visible. On October 12, a woman was accidentally trapped in a three-meter crack in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia, while trying to retrieve her phone that had fallen among the rocks.

Trapped face down, the 23-year-old girl first tried to get out of the cavity with the help of her friends, but without success. After an hour, they finally called emergency services, who were sent to the scene.

“I have never faced a situation like this”

The rescue operation, which lasted a total of seven hours, proved particularly delicate, NSW Ambulance said in a media release. Several large rocks first had to be removed to create an access point for rescue teams.

The Australian then had to be guided through a tight S-curve that required at least an hour of work. The last remaining rock, weighing around 500 kilograms, proved “difficult to move”, NSW Ambulance said in its statement.

“Each team had a role to play and we all worked incredibly well together to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient,” he insisted.

What is certain is that members of NSW Ambulance will not forget this rescue. “In my 10 years as a first responder, I have never faced a situation like this. It was challenging, but incredibly rewarding,” paramedic Peter Watts told Australian radio ABC News.

According to the lifeguard, the young woman remained “very brave” throughout the entire operation. “I would have been taken aback in that kind of situation, but when we were there, she was calm, focused, anything we asked her to do, she was able to do to help us get her out of there,” he said. he told ABC News.

The young woman, who was ultimately unable to recover her phone, was taken to the hospital for observation. He suffered some minor scratches and bruises, NSW Ambulance said.
