The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, praised this Tuesday, in her first speech as ruler at the gate of Downing Street, the British people, emphasizing that she trusts them to bring the country to a good end in the face of what who said it was a storm”.
Truss began by arguing -after a journey of more than an hour from Balmoral and which was broadcast live on television- that Boris Johnson will go down in the history of the United Kingdom as Prime Minister with a job accomplished and “highly transcendent” for having managed to bring out Brexit and the Covid-19 vaccine, having also “faced Russian aggression” in more recent times.
“What makes Great Britain great is our belief in freedom, initiative and fair play. Our people have shown perseverance, courage and determination time and time again.”
“The time has come to tackle the problems. We need to build new roads, more jobs in every city and reduce the burden on families,” he said, stressing that he wants to transform Britain into a land “of great hope.”
“I know we have what it takes to do it. Of course it won’t be easy, but we will achieve it”, guaranteed the President of the Government, who wants “everyone to have the opportunities they deserve”.
Liz Truss championed three priorities which are to “get Britain back to work, build and grow” through tax cuts that reward those who “work hard” and encourage business growth, ensuring that no one “faces energy that doesn’t can afford” and that “hospitals, schools, roads and telecommunications networks” are being built.
The second priority is to deal with the energy consequences of the conflict in Ukraine, “ensuring supply” in the future.
Third on Truss’s list was the desire that all citizens “be able to go to the doctor and access the health services they need”, and for this it is necessary to give “firm foundations” to the British National Health Service.
“We must not be afraid of the challenges we face. Strong as the storm is, I know the British are stronger. Our country was built by people who get things done, we have huge reserves of talent, energy and determination.” I think that together we can weather the storm, rebuild the economy”, launched the new British leader at the door of the new address: 10, Downing Street.
