Russian authorities in the occupied city of Kherson withdrew shortly after declaring a “24-hour curfew” this Friday over a Ukrainian counter-offensive aimed at retaking the southern Ukrainian city.

On Tuesday, the Russian authorities occupying Kherson announced that they have begun the evacuation of “up to 70,000 people” who are on the left bank of the Dnieper River this Friday.
“Those living in Kherson should be removed from the areas of the most dangerous actions, because the civilian population should not suffer,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday, quoted by the RIA news agency, at a ceremony in Red Square. in Moscow, marking National Unity Day.
Putin’s call comes at a time when Russian troops face a counter-offensive from Kiev troops.
