Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that the Donetsk front, where heavy fighting is taking place, is “literally covered” with Russian corpses and that “they die by the hundreds every day”.
“The Donetsk region remains the epicenter of the greatest occupier madness: hundreds are dying every day. The ground in front of the Ukrainian positions is literally covered with the bodies of the occupiers,” he said.
Zelensky said that along the front line, Ukrainian forces were maintaining an “active defense” and in areas to the east and south they were “gradually pushing back” the Russians.
“Little by little we are making progress,” he stressed.
The Ukrainian leader said that some Russian soldiers, faced with what “is happening”, “complained to the governor of the Coastal Krai region about colossal losses”, but he “lied”, saying that “losses are ‘far from this’ “.
The Ukrainian president called on Russian citizens to hold a “fierce” protest, not on social networks, not “under the covers”, but on the streets “against the power in Moscow”.
The Russians today attacked more than 50 villages in Donbass, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kharkov and Dnipropetrovsk, but Ukrainian forces responded on all fronts, according to Zelensky, who said one of the results was the shooting down of a Russian plane.
The Ukrainian head of state assured that his country has received new air defense systems and, although the protection of the skies “is not one hundred percent”, it is moving towards that goal.
Zelensky also reported on the decision of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to take control “by force” of five Ukrainian companies “to meet the needs of the war.”
At stake are Motor Sich, KrAZ, Ukrnafta, Ukrtatnafta and Zaporizhtransformator, which from now on will be involved in the repair and production of equipment, provision of defense forces and restoration of infrastructure, the Ukrainian president announced.
