A difficult mistake for loved ones to live with. In Spain, an elderly woman was declared dead on Friday morning at the Joan March de Bunyola hospital located in Palma, before giving signs of life to those responsible for the funeral home, reports Diario de Mallorca. The information was confirmed by the Spanish Ministry of Health and the mayor.
The doctor on duty at this hospital on the island of Mallorca signed the death certificate and then the mortuary transferred what they believed to be a body to the Son Valenti morgue, in Palma.
A procedural error
But once there, employees watched as this woman’s fingers moved, proof that she was still alive. An ambulance went to the morgue and a doctor confirmed that he still had a pulse.
The woman was taken back to the hospital in a very weak condition and admitted to palliative care.
This incident was attributed to a procedural error and no police investigation has yet been opened, according to the Mallorca Daily Bulletin.
