What is the price to pay to obtain dozens of Iranian drones? Several tens of millions of euros and many Western weapons, responds Sky News. According to British media, Russia spent 140 million euros, flown in cash to Tehran, to seize the drones it used for several weeks in its war in Ukraine.
The transaction would have taken place on August 20, according to Sky News. Two Russian cargo planes reportedly landed at Tehran airport, one with cash, the other with various Western weapons.
According to a source who requested anonymity from the British media, a new agreement between Tehran and Moscow for a new delivery of drones would have been made “in the last few days”.
Tehran admits to providing drones, but before the war
In early November, Iran first admitted supplying drones to Russia, but before the invasion of Ukraine in late February. A statement confirming kyiv’s accusations against Moscow, suspected of using Iranian drones for its attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
Iran’s top diplomat said on Saturday he was ready to examine any “evidence” from Kyiv about Iranian use of drones in the conflict.
However, Kyiv already claimed several days ago that “about 400” Iranian drones had already been used against the Ukrainian population and that Moscow had ordered about 2,000.
France, the United Kingdom and Germany demanded, in a letter addressed to the UN, an “impartial” investigation on the Iranian drones supplied according to the West to Russia in their war against Ukraine.
