Russia is ready to honor its contracts but will cut off supplies of gas, oil and coal if anyone jeopardizes its interests, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Wednesday.
The Russian head of state, who was speaking at the VII Eastern Economic Forum, which takes place in Vladivostok, in the far east of the country, responded to the proposals of the G7 and the European Union (EU) aimed at limiting oil prices and gas. russians
“There are commitments established in the supply contracts, but if any kind of political action questions them, we will simply not fulfill them. [A Rússia] it will contribute absolutely nothing if it goes against our interests, in this case economic ones. We will not supply gas, oil or coal,” Putin said.
The group of the seven most industrialized countries in the world, the G7, raised the possibility of allowing the global transport of Russian oil and its derivatives only if the products are sold below a maximum price, something that Moscow categorically rejects.
The proposal comes in the context of an attempt to cut funding for the Russian military campaign in Ukraine, at a time when the EU has purchased 54% of all fossil fuels exported by Russia since the end of February worth $85.1 billion.
Although no official figures are available, it is estimated that Russia spent around 100 billion euros in financing the war against Ukraine, making fuel export revenues the “key factor” in the Russian military campaign.
