Turkish police announced Monday that the main suspect in the attack that left six dead and 81 injured on Sunday in Istanbul is a Syrian citizen who received orders from the PKK to plant the bomb in Kobane, Syria.
According to Turkish television stations, the Istanbul Security Directorate said the woman, arrested just hours after the blast, was called Ahlam Albashir.
The organization also reports that the suspect received “instructions” from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), in Kobane, in northern Syria, to carry out the attack on Sunday.
The PKK is one of Turkey’s main targets in the Iraq-Syria border area, with the party banned from Turkish territory.
