War in Ukraine: Zelensky claims Russia destroyed ‘all crucial infrastructure’ in Kherson

A few days after the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Kherson region, the Ukrainian president took stock of the damage observed in the city.

During his daily address, just after visiting the city of Kherson, Volodymyr Zelensky said that “before winter, the Russian occupiers absolutely destroyed all critical infrastructure.”

“Absolutely all the important facilities of the city and the region are mined,” he added.

“There is no electricity, no communication, no internet, no television” in Kherson, the Ukrainian president continued, declaring that “the occupiers intentionally destroyed everything themselves.”

“That is what the Russian flag means: total devastation,” President Zelensky added, vowing a return to normal life after the withdrawal of Russian forces.

The Ukrainian national operator Ukrenergo has reported that Russia has destroyed key energy infrastructure that supplies the entire right bank of the Kherson region and a significant part of the Mykolaiv region.

“Most of the Kherson Liberated Region has been without power since November 6,” Ukrenergo chief Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said. “We are doing everything we can to supply people with electricity as quickly as possible.”
