He had tortured and killed his 10 -year -old daughter: he confirmed a prison for life for the father of little Sara in the United Kingdom

The father and mother -in -law of the 10 -year -old girl were sentenced last December to at least 39 years and 31 years in prison, respectively. His sentence was confirmed in the appeal this Thursday, March 13.

The British justice confirmed on Thursday, March 13 in appeal, the sentences inflicted in the first instance to the father and mother-in-law of Little Sara, sentenced to life imprisonment at the end of 2024 for having tortured and killed the 10-year Anglo-Pakistani girl.

Urfan Sharif, the father, and Beinah Batool, the mother -in -law, had presented an appeal to see its reduced security period, while the Prosecutor’s Office demanded incompressible perpetuity for the first time, 43 years old.

But the three judges of the Court of Appeals confirmed that the sentences pronounced at the end of last December by the Criminal Court of London: the father cannot be released before almost 39 years in prison and the mother -in -law, 30, will have to remain in detention for more than 31 years.

“A certain level of premeditation”

During the trial at the end of 2024, the description of the abuse that the couple suffered in Sara bothered the United Kingdom. In the same way as the opportunities lost by social services to save it. When pronouncing the sentence, the judge of the Criminal Court had described as “torture” what Sara Sharif endured, died in August 2023 in Woking, southwest London.

This Thursday, the main judge Sue Carria acknowledged that “to inflict repetitive violence to a child” requires “a certain level of premeditation.” But “we are not convinced that any sentence inferior to the life imprisonment is unfairly mild” in this case, as the Prosecutor’s Office advanced, he defended.

He also rejected the appeals of three convicts. In addition to Sara’s father and stepmother, her 29 -year -old uncle, Faisal Malik, who lived with the family, had been sentenced to almost 16 years in prison for “causing or made his death possible.” The criminal acts “were continually committed and repeated for many years, then gradually aggravated,” said the prosecutor’s representative on Thursday in his written deposition.

Multiple abuse

The girl’s autopsy revealed one hundred wounds, including a cranial trauma, multiple fractures, bruises and scars, traces of burns and marks of human bites. For months, he has suffered a branch with a Cricket bat, burning with iron or boiling water. His head was also imprisoned in a hood made of plastic bags. The abuse had intensified a few months before the death of the girl who had been withdrawn from school by her father in April 2023.

The day after his death, his father, his mother -in -law and his uncle had fled to Pakistan, with the other five children of the couple, abandoning their body in a bed. After a month in the race, the trio had returned to the United Kingdom and was arrested on the plane.

During the trial, Urfan Sharif, a taxi driver, first accused his wife, then acknowledged his responsibility, while he said he did not want to kill Sara. This Thursday, in front of the Court, his lawyer, Naeem Mian, argued that his client “did not intend to kill” and said that the case was not exceptional enough to justify the security sentence of almost 39 years inflicted to his client.

Beinash Batool’s lawyer, Caroline Carberry, estimated that the prayer inflicted on Sara’s mother -in -law was “too long” and did not reflect her role in a fair way. “He also insisted on” important attenuating circumstances “, in particular the fact that her client was a victim of her husband’s violence.
