Biden and Sunak describe Russia’s attacks as barbaric

US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Wednesday called Russia’s latest airstrikes on Ukraine barbaric.

The two leaders were speaking at the start of a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit on the Indonesian island of Bali.

“At a time when world leaders are here in Bali trying to advance world peace, Russian President Vladimir Putin is launching attacks against civilian targets,” Biden criticized. He added: “Russia can and must end this war.”

Joe Biden called Russia’s latest attacks on Ukraine barbaric, and Sunak said he agreed with the US leader’s description.

Russia carried out the biggest airstrike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since the start of the war on Tuesday, launching more than 90 missiles.

The attack took place during the G20 summit in Bali and after the withdrawal of the Russian army from the northern Kherson region.

Vladimir Putin did not attend the G20 meeting and was replaced by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who left the summit on Tuesday before it ended.

Meanwhile, the G20 summit, which ends today, was marked by the fall, on Tuesday, of a Russian-made missile in Poland that killed two people.

The Foreign Ministry in Warsaw confirmed that a “Russian-made projectile” hit the territory of this NATO country near the border with Ukraine, killing two people.

“In the village of Przewodów (…), a Russian-made projectile fell, killing two citizens of the Republic of Poland,” says a statement from the ministry’s spokesman, Lukasz Jasina.

US President Joe Biden has already come to say today that the missile that hit Poland and killed two people was unlikely to have been fired from Russia.

“There is preliminary information that questions that,” Biden told reporters when asked if the missile was fired from Russia. “It is unlikely on the trajectory lines that it was fired from Russia, but we’ll see,” he added from the Indonesian island of Bali, where he will participate in the G20 summit.

On the other hand, the leaders of the G7 and NATO decided to support an investigation into the accident of the Russian-made missile, revealed the US president.

The minister explained that this agreement was reached “unanimously” during an emergency meeting that took place this morning.
