A mysterious diagnostic series. In a Boston hospital, in the United States, 11 caregivers have declared a degradation of their health status, 5 of which, report that our NBC News colleagues show that they suffer brain tumors, which declared themselves benign after the analysis.
All these caregivers work in the same place in the building, namely the fifth floor.
After investigating this internal case, the Mass General Brigham hospital in Boston finally concluded in a public statement that “no environmental risk had been identified that could be linked to the development of a brain tumor” on the spot.
If for the hospital it is, therefore, a terrible coincidence, for the sick, the reality seems very different. They desperately try to obtain answers to their questions through the competence of independent research organizations.
A professional environment that is considered healthy
Hospital research, carried out in collaboration with “government health and safety officials” have not led anything. Or rather nothing alarming, according to the conclusions published in a press release.
Therefore, it has been established that the professional environment of caregivers who have developed a brain tumor did not present any specific risk. A point that also allows management to reassure the very large patient of the establishment on the realization of the care or monitoring of treatments between its walls. This is not for the taste of interested nurses and the unions that represent them.
“Currently, the best way to help is to carry out an independent scientific investigation,” says Joe Markman, spokesman for the Massachusets Nurses Association (MAN) in the NBC news information columns.
A counteract, therefore, that could be extended for several additional weeks even before achieving a “reliable” result for the team of caregivers of the mass general Brigham.
The American Cancer Society (ACS), on the other hand, said that the occurrences of the same types of cancer “are not uncommon” in view of the figures on the subject: 4 out of 10 people in the United States, will develop cancer. In a sample of several dozen people on the top floor of the same hospital, it is possible to find similar development pathologies in several patients.
