A Palestinian minister welcomes the intention of France to recognize the Palestinian State

The Palestinian Foreign Minister praised Emmanuel Macron’s statement about the possible recognition of the Palestinian State in the coming months.

A Palestinian minister praised, this Wednesday, April 9, the announcement of French president Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, April 9, according to which Paris could recognize the Palestinian State in June.

The recognition of France from the Palestinian State “would be a step in the right direction, according to the defense of the rights of the Palestinian people and the solution to two states,” said Warsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Towards a solution of two states

Emmanuel Macron has announced that France could recognize a Palestinian state during a conference that will combine with Saudi Arabia in the United Nations in New York and that, according to him, it is also due to Israel’s recognition for several countries.

“Our goal is, somewhere in June, with Saudi Arabia, preside over this conference where we could end the mutual recognition movement of many,” said Emmanuel Macron.

Almost 150 countries recognize the Palestinian State. In May 2024, Ireland, Norway and Spain launched, followed by Slovenia in June. However, the solution of two states remains rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

French support for the Arab Plan for Gaza

The French president also provided Cairo to support the Arab Plan for Gaza on Monday, firmly opposing population trips “against the ambitions of Donald Trump.

The Arab initiative is a response to the Plan of the US president who plans to take control of the Palestinian territory and expel its inhabitants.

Prepared by Egypt, its goal is to rebuild the Gaza Strip, destroyed for 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas, without moving its 2.4 million inhabitants.

Gaza is “not a real estate project”

When asked about Donald Trump’s project to be “Riviera du Middle East”, Emmanuel Macron Hammers than the Gaza Strip “is not a real estate project.”

“Simply simplifying sometimes I don’t help.

“If all this does not exist, nobody will invest. Today nobody will put a penny in Gaza a penny,” he added.
