Gaza: Macron asks Netanyahu to put an end to the “Calvary” of civilians

During a telephone interview with Benjamin Netanyahu, this Tuesday, April 15, Emmanuel Macron begged to reopen “a perspective of a political solution to two states” and asked that the “evidence” of civilians in Gaza end.

Emmanuel Macron said that he said on Tuesday, April 15 to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, April 15 that “the terrible experience” of Gaza civilians should “end”, asking for a stop the fire that allows the release of Hamas Hostages and “the opening of all forms of approval of humanitarian aid.”

“Show, the liberation of all hostages, humanitarian aid, then finally reopening from the perspective of a political solution to two states,” said French president in Network X.

“It is in this context that I imagine the June conference” that France will be located at the UN with Saudi Arabia “, taking into account the security interests of Israel and all in the region,” he added.

This conference must “unleash a series of recognition” of a Palestinian state, especially for France, as well as the state of Israel for several Arab countries to involve a dynamic of peace in the region, he explained on Monday.

“The terrible experience that Gaza’s civil populations should end,” he asked.

“The opening of all points of approval of humanitarian aid is a vital necessity for Gaza’s civil populations. I saw it in El-Arish, this help is blocked on the other side of the border. It must reach civilians as quickly as possible,” said the head of state.

“A great reward for terrorism”

Emmanuel Macron also repeated that “the high fire is the only way to guarantee the release of hostages always retained by Hamas.”

“The launch of all hostages has always been an absolute priority, as well as the demilitarization of Hamas,” said the French president.

For his part, Benjamin Netanyahu told Emmanuel Macron that the establishment of a Palestinian state would be “a great reward for terrorism,” said his services. In recent days, Emmanuel Macron has repeatedly mentioned a possible recognition of a Palestinian State by France in June.

“During the conversation, the prime minister firmly opposed the creation of a Palestinian state, saying that this would constitute a great reward for terrorism,” said Benjamin Netanyahu’s office in a statement.

“The prime minister told the French president that a Palestinian state established a few minutes from Israeli cities would become a bastion of Iranian terrorism,” said the press release.

The latter also pointed out that “no Palestinian entity” condemned the unprecedented attack of Hamas to Israel on October 7, 2023 that triggered the war today still in progress in the Gaza Strip.

His position in favor of the recognition of a Palestinian State has earned Emmanuel Macron to the strong criticism of a part of the French political class and in Israel.

Almost 150 countries recognize the Palestinian State. In May 2024, Ireland, Norway and Spain launched, followed by Slovenia in June. However, the solution of two states remains rejected by Benjamin Netanyahu.
