Ukraine announces the continuation of the agreement on grain exports

The agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea will be extended for 120 days, the Minister of Infrastructure of the kyiv government confirmed on Thursday.

“The initiative [transporte de cereais] in the Black Sea it will be extended for another 120 days,” Minister Oleksandr Koubrakov said Thursday through a message released Thursday through the social network Twitter.

According to the Ukrainian minister, this is an important step “in the fight against the world food crisis” aggravated by the new invasion of Russia, which began on February 24.

Earlier, Turkey indicated the relaunch of the agreement on Ukrainian grain exports, “under the same conditions” as previously verified, a senior Turkish official told France Press, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Thus, the first phase of the diplomatic initiative in operation since July on the transport of grains through the Black Sea expires this Friday and, so far, has allowed the export of 11 million tons from Ukrainian ports.

According to the source from Agence France Press, the extension of the agreement will allow exports to continue for another 120 days.
