A Canada “Strong against the great challenges of our time.” After the electoral victory of the Mark Carney Liberal Party in the legislative elections in Canada, Emmanuel Macron welcomed the election of the liberal prime minister as the successor of Justin Trudeau.
“All my congratulations for your victory. You embodies a strong Canada in the face of the great challenges of our time. France is delighted to further strengthen the friendship that unites our countries. We hope to work by your side, to press our elbows!” Write the head of the state in a legend of a photo that shakes hand in the perrion of the érlysée.
Since Mark Carney’s announced victory, European reactions are raining on social networks. The British prime minister, Keir Starmer, congratulated his Canadian counterpart for his victory, delighted to “strengthen the links” between the United Kingdom and Canada, an “ally, partners and closer country.”
The same satisfaction for the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, who writes: “I hope to work in a close collaboration, both at the bilateral level and within the G7. We will defend our common democratic values, we will encourage multilateralism and we will make the champions of free and fair trade.”
Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, also praised Mark Carney victory. “We are convinced that our association will only strengthen in our common search for peace, justice and security,” he wrote on social networks.
The Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi, was delighted to “strengthen the association” and “open new opportunities” with Canada. More reserved, China said he was “ready to develop relations” with the country, without expressing congratulations, while bilateral links are tense due to commercial and political disputes.
