The Jostones and the tails in the “Death Zone” of Everest, soon ends? To wait to be able to climb the highest summit in the world, it may soon be necessary to provide a permit in advance, explains the British news agency Reuters this Monday, April 28.
Nepal is currently examining a bill to authorize Mont Everest’s rise to mountaineers who have already uploaded a 7,000 -meter high summit in Nepal.
The objective is, in the first place, to reduce overcrowding at Everest, a real issue for a few years and the development of mountaineering tourism in the region. Another obligation for any future ascent: to be accompanied by Sherpas Nepalíes.
Dozens of deaths every year
In 2023, 12 people died for the rise of Mont Everest for a total of 478 “permission” issued. Last year, there were 8. The authorizations of the past, considered too flexible, did not systematically demand an experience in significant mountaineering or the support of a room.
“It makes no sense,” according to Lukas Furtenbach, Austrian upload organizer. For him, other 7,000 -meter peaks, in other places that in Nepal are enough to prepare a person for good promotion to Everest.
Similarly, Nepalese mountain guides would be very few and those of other countries should be able to continue working at Everest.
“It is important that mountain guides have a rating, such as associations of the International Federation of Mountain Guides (IFMGA), whatever their nationality. We also welcome the Fmga nepal guides to work in the Alps in Europe,” he said with Reuters.
“I would also add to this list the mountains whose summits are almost 7,000 meters and that are widely used in the preparation processes, such as Ama Dablam, Aconcagua, Denali and others,” concludes Lukas Furtenbach.
