Impressive images. The ceiling of a fourteenth century tower collapsed this Monday, May 19 in the Eastern district of China on Monday, May 19, reports several Chinese and international media, including CNN.
Under the gaze of dumbfounded tourists, hundreds of tiles have collapsed from the “drum tower” roof to crush underneath, raising a huge cloud of dust.
The local office of Culture and Tourism has declared in a Press release that no victim had been informed and that “the situation is the subject of an investigation.”
Renewal in 2024
The Drum Fengyang tower, built in 1375 and used to announce the beginning of the ceremonies and the time of day, is a great tourist attraction located about 300 kilometers from Beijing.
The accident occurred a year after the renewal work carried out on the ceiling and that had been claimed precisely due to the “sporadic” mosaics since 2017.
The stone of the battery tower dates from 1375, but the tower itself had been rebuilt in 1995, specifies the Local Office of Culture and Tourism.
