Gaza: the head of American diplomacy relatively “optimistic” in terms of the end of war

The head of American diplomacy Marco Rubio shared his “optimism” on Wednesday about a rapid end of the war in the Gaza Strip.

The head of American diplomacy, Marco Rubio, said on Wednesday, May 21, relatively “optimistic” in a quite fast end of the war in the Gaza Strip and the launch of all hostages still retained by Hamas.

“I don’t want to go too much (…), but I have a certain level of optimism about the possibility of quickly obtaining decisive results, hoping to put an end to this situation and free all hostages,” said Marco Rubio before a parliamentary committee.

“So I don’t want to disappoint you again”

He acknowledged that he had already made such predictions “at least four times in the last two months, and for one reason or another, at the last minute, this did not happen.”

But, he said, “so I don’t want to disappoint you again, but I want you to know that efforts are underway to provide more humanitarian aid and put an end to the current conflict.”

Israel launched a military offensive in the Gaza Strip after the unprecedented attack against the Palestinian Islamist movement of October 7, 2023. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, it is still 20 hostages “certainly”, and added this Wednesday that Israel is ready for a “temporary cessation.”
