“It’s surprising”: a child finds a bottle in the sea thrown seven years before with 7,500 kilometers

An 11 -year -old boy seized a bottle in the sea in Florida sent in 2018 from a beach in Hawaii. Thanks to the number registered inside, he was able to contact the loaders.

They spent seven years before she found a recipient. Josie Law, a son of 11 from Michigan, found a bottle in the sea launched by two teenagers of a Hawaii island in 2018, has several local media such as Hawaii News Now and Spectrum News. The object was found on an Atlantic beach in Florida, more than 7,500 km from Pacific Island.

“I received a screenshot from an unknown number (…) It was a piece of paper and I knew it was mine because there were paper cranes, and my brother and I were obsessed with the manufacture of paper cranes,” says Payton Hollenbeck.

Now 21 years old, Payton was only 14 when he decided with his brother to launch a bottle in the sea. This idea came to the front after having found a bottle on a beach. “There was not a phone number, but my brother and I told me:” We should also do one to have fun, “he recalls.

In a small bottle, then they slid the following message: “Hello to those who found that. You will be happy to have found it. Why? Because you will know me thanks to this number”, followed by a phone number.

“She was so surprised”

Josie Law was on vacation with her family when she found the battle. First I thought it was waste, before seeing that there was a word inside the bottle. “I was so surprised that she ran to me on the beach,” said the 11 -year -old girl.

The family hastened to send an SMS to the indicated number and was very surprised to know that the bottle had traveled all these kilometers. “You’re joking, it’s amazing!” She responded to Payton when the latter said she sent her from Hawaii.

Josie’s family plans to throw her own bottle into the sea before returning to Michigan. For its part, Payton does not want to encourage this type of behavior and deplora the pollution of the oceans. “I would not encourage it, but if I find a bottle, I think it would be really great,” he admits.
