“The body of a woman is not on sale”: the Spanish Socialist Party prohibits its members from using prostitution

Several scandals notably linked to prostitution have spread in Spain in recent weeks, particularly for the Socialist Party (PSOE). In response, the PSOE prohibited its members from resorting to prostitution, he announced this Saturday.

The Spanish socialists will expel anyone who will resort to prostitution, announced this Saturday, July 5, the PSOE in power, weakened by several scandals.

The Spanish political world experienced an earthquake with the placement in the arrest prior to the trial on June 30 of former N.3 of PSOE Santos Cerdán, in a case of wine pots in exchange for public works and prostitutes services.

“Request, accept or obtain a sexual act of a person in exchange for remuneration” will be punished with “the maximum sanction, namely, the expulsion of the party,” according to a press release from the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) released on the occasion of the meeting on Saturday in Madrid of a federal committee of the party that also announced reshasted to its management.

“If we consider that the body of a woman is not on sale, there can be no space in our party without opposite behavior,” said the secretary and prime minister, Pedro Sánchez.

The management of the party reviewed after the accusations

The Federal Committee meeting began on Saturday night due to the resignation of Francisco Salazar, a nearby collaborator of Pedro Sánchez, who would join the new leadership of the party.

The online information site eldiario.es reported complaints of socialist women who accused him of “inappropriate behavior” of a sexual nature when he was his superior. During the meeting, the party rework the party management.

Santos Cerdán is replaced as number three by Rebeca Torró, a 44 -year -old lawyer who had several functions in the Regional Government of Valencia and the Central Government.

“These are undoubtedly difficult days for everyone,” admitted the prime minister during his speech before the Federal Committee, asking once again “forgiveness” for trusting the suspicious people of corruption.

The prime minister will not resign

Pedro Sánchez excluded any resignation: “The captain does not go back to difficulties. It remains to face the storm,” he said before presenting “thirteen additional measures aimed at preventing, fighting and sanctioning corruption.”

The investigation that led to the imprisonment of Santos Cerdán also implies the former Socialist Minister of Transportation José Luis Ábalos. The two men were key figures in the rise of Pedro Sánchez in the head of the PSOE, until he came to power in Spain.

Already poisoned by judicial investigations aimed at his wife, his brother and the prosecutor of the country, the prime minister has been going through his most complicated period since he came to power in 2018.
