An artist deployed on Saturday, July 19 at night, a Palestinian flag on stage during a presentation at Royal Opera House in London, an action qualified on Sunday “completely inappropriate” by this famous institution.
The images transmitted on social networks show this artist, in the second row on stage, fly the flag and then a man who puts himself behind the scene to try, in vain, to tear it out by force.
This scene took place at the time of applause, at the end of the representation of the Opera Le Troubvère by Giuseppe Verdi.
“A totally inappropriate act” for the institution
This is “an unauthorized action”, reacted to a Royal Opera House spokesman, Lyric’s art and dance temple in the United Kingdom, which is located in the Garden Covent district.
“This was not approved by the Royal Ballet and Opera,” he added, speaking of a “completely inappropriate act.”
Many artists have demonstrated in recent months their support for the Palestinians during the performances.
At the end of June, during the Glastonbury Festival, the Rap group of the Irish of the North, Kneecap, accused Israel on stage of being a “war criminal” state and has repeatedly sung “Palestine free!”.
One of the three members of the group, Liam O’Hanna Dit Mo Chara, is also prosecuted for “terrorist offensive” after wearing a Hezbollah flag during a concert in London in 2024.
Also in Glastonbury, one of the members of Bob Vylan, British punk punk duo, sang “dead, dead in the FDI!”, The Israeli defense forces. The police continue their investigation in this case.
The organizers of the festival said “dismayed”, and the BBC, which broadcast the performance, has announced that it would no longer broadcast high -risk concerts “live or broadcast.
